EPG/PSI system for TV operators - The Casis Modernization Story
Client:
Industry:
Digital Broadcasting & Pay TV Infrastructure
WHAT WE DID:
Reconstructed system knowledge and modernized the architecture to support current standards, security, and infrastructure.
RESULTS:
Stabilized a 5M+ LoC system, ensured zero downtime for global operators, and delivered a secure 4K-ready, production-grade release.

When Enghouse (TSE: ENGH) shifted its strategic focus, CASIS – the electronic EPG/PSI backbone of major TV networks – needed a new home. 7bulls.com stepped in to take over, reverse-engineer, and modernize it, ensuring a seamless transition and a roadmap for a secure 4K-ready future.
THE CHALLANGE
Our partner Enghouse (TSE: ENGH, formerly SeaChange International), had spent over a decade developing CASIS (electronic EPG/PSI Scheduler) – a sophisticated solution for digital broadcasting and EPG management. With over 30 global deployments, CASIS has become the "invisible" essential engine for Tier 1 operators.
However, as SeaChange pivoted its product lines toward different areas of development of multiscreen video solutions. The risk of losing support for existing global customers entirely. A growing need for interventions, including support for modern operating systems and newer hardware integrations. End-customers were already pressing for security patches and support for emerging standards, including security, 4K descriptors and AC-4 features.
We took over the project at a high-stakes moment with minimal knowledge handover. Our team successfully:
- Reconstructed knowledge: Navigated and audited a massive codebase of over 5 million lines of code (LoC).
- Delivered rapid modernization: Within just one year, we issued a major new version of the system, addressing core pain points and security vulnerabilities.
- Handled a complex deployment: Managed dozens of interconnected services and tens of dedicated hardware integrations to ensure zero downtime for operators.

Stability and Development
Since the takeover, 7bulls.com has transformed CASIS from a operational risk into a modernized and further developed platform.

- Version 5.7 Deployment: Launched in Q3 2024, introducing 4K technology support, secure SFTP connections, and full compatibility with Windows Server 2022.
- Global Continuity: We currently manage more than 20 active customers across Europe, Asia, and Africa under long-term SLA contracts.
- Continuous Development: Delivered customized development projects improving integration efficiency across CAS, Head-End, and Set-Top Box environments.
- Long-term R&D and Support: Under multi-year SLA contracts spanning 3 years and beyond, we guarantee ongoing development and SLA support – eliminating any risk of platform obsolescence for our customers, regardless of the location.
